For the past nineteen years I have lived my life as a practicing mormon and have followed the teachings religiously. I come from a practicing, rather strict (not to mention big) family but I know that they only want what's right for me.

I'm in a religious metal band (Moroni's Messiah) but unlike a lot of my rock God idols I refuse the sex, drugs and alcohol that seems to go hand in hand with my chosen career- I want to rock out with a message, not rock out with a hang over and a skanky scantily clad girl on each arm. I'm not your architypal mormon rocker- my parents didn't kick me out for getting myself addicted to meth or nothing of that sort, I just have a lot to say and a penchant for electric guitar.

I am leaving all of that behind for two years though, as well as my fiance and my younger siblings and cousins, so that I focus on doing God's work. It's one thing to scream lyrics to a dark pit based on our book, it's another to knock on a strangers door and propose that they should convert to my way of life but I know that I need to do this.
